FITLIGHT™ is trying to improve lives by providing new training methods. Their mission is to help athletes and their coaches “Move, Measure and Motivate.”

They make people move with their innovative FITLIGHTS. As each one goes off, he has to turn them off by either waving his hand over them or hitting them. His overall reaction time and his reaction time for each light is recorded.

When the FITLIGHT Trainer™ crew brought the lights into our office, we set up four of them on the floor. Using the Dashboard Tablet, we customized how we wanted to train. We went for the randomized program and decided to try our luck with just waving our hands over the lights, rather than having to hit the lights.

It was showtime. The lights started blinking right away, showing no mercy. They quickly changed and the 10-second trial run was a wrap too quickly. It was addicting. Needed another shot.

We went back to the Tablet and readjusted the settings, speeding up the activation time of the lights.  That’s not the only thing that can be customized, though. There are endless combinations of how many lights you use, how much time you to have hit them, which order they light up in and so much more. The Raptors have a wall with 50 FITLIGHTS on it. Curry, Nick YoungDeMar DeRozan and other hoopers use anywhere from 12 to 24 lights at a time. Curry puts them on a pole, while Young dives on the floor to use them.

BASEBALL AND FITLIGHT: Training routines for ball recognition enhanced neuro muscular firing, hand-eye coordination, explosiveness off the mark can all be practiced using the lights on the bases and developing the quick reaction times and change of direction that are required for stealing bases. This is only a small example of what the system can be used for. Hand/Eye coordination for batters and catchers with improved reaction time, position-specific training drills can be developed using mitts simulating actual game situations.  Fitlight is also a powerful timing gate and shuttle run system which can be customized to quickly and efficiently run complete team conditioning and skills acquisition sessions.

Paul Scholes' secret training weapon  Legendary schemer Paul Scholes barely broke into a jog, but he was always a step ahead of the opposition. How? He had a secret weapon 

“You’ve got a kid who is smaller than most, he’s got asthma, he’s not the quickest, but he’s the best player I’ve ever played with – work that out!” Gary Neville couldn’t explain Paul Scholes’ genius, but we think we can. Brace yourself: eight flashing lights.

Instead of loading up the squat rack, the pint-sized playmaker went head-to-head with the FitLight training device.

Eight discs, which can be mounted to any surface, flash at intervals, challenging the athlete to react at speed and deactivate them with a swipe of either their hands, feet, head or even a football. 

Reaction times are captured by a tablet, ready for analysis. Using the data, coaches can measure speed, agility, and coordination. 

Scholes might have struggled to keep up with Cristiano Ronaldo’s walking pace, but his reaction speed was off the charts, says power development coach Mick Clegg, who introduced FitLight during his time with Manchester United. “With FitLight you’re able to train things that are directly related to what’s happening on the pitch,” he explains. “Paul Scholes wasn’t the biggest or the quickest but his reaction times were incredible – he was able to see everything. His brain was always ticking away.”
